The walkthrough
Follow the story from start to finish.
Begin the adventure
Talk to the Examiner. She needs a letter of recommendation: take her letter to the curator of Varrock Museum, then bring his answer back.
Continue the adventure
Three exams of three questions each. The right answer only appears once a student has told it to you, so help the three students first, each time.
The students' requests
the animal skull (pickpocket the workmen), the teddy bear lucky mascot (search around the relic in the centre of the site), the opal and the special cup (pan in the river: give the panning guide a cup of tea first).
Level 1 answers
"The study of the earth, its contents and history"; "All that have passed the appropriate Earth Sciences exam"; "Gloves and boots to be worn at all times; proper tools must be used".
Level 2
"Samples taken in rough form; kept only in sealed containers"; "Finds must be carefully handled"; "Always handle with care; strike cleanly on its cleaving point".
Level 3
"Samples cleaned, and carried only in specimen jars"; "Brush carefully and slowly using short strokes"; "Handle bones very carefully and keep them away from other samples".
Continue the adventure
Once qualified, dig at the site with your trowel. Get the invitation letter from the archaeological expert and show it to a workman to access the deeper shafts (use your rope on the winches).
Find your next lead
Find the unidentified liquid and the chemical powder in the shafts; the archaeological expert identifies them as nitroglycerin and ammonium nitrate. Mix nitroglycerin and ammonium nitrate, add ground charcoal, then an arcenia root, to make the chemical compound.
Finish the quest
Pour the compound on the bricks blocking the tunnel and light it. Behind it, take the stone tablet near the altar of Zaros and give it to the archaeological expert.
